@vinze007 Yes, the Ikari Mod we do allows all SA-1 protected games to run. :)

  2. consolepassion says:

@malBOROkid Yes, the new Ikari Switchless mod we do allows 100% of all games to be played – even those with SA-1 chips such as Star Ocean, Kirby 3 and Mario RPG.

  3. malBOROkid says:

does this allow you to play games like jikkyou parodius?and the other later games with custom chips?

Just bought my pre-modded snes. Can’t wait to get it ;)

    Hi there!
I have two japanese games here: “Jikkyou Oshaberi Parodius” (aka Parodius 2) and “Super Robot Taisen Gaiden: Masō Kishin – The Lord Of Elemental”. Those have the SA-1 chip and PPU frequency check, much like mario RPG I think.
I tried the ad-29 adapter (upgrade version) and the PAR MK2 (firmware 2.x) but the screen just stay black, it does not even blink.
Will your switchless mod make them actually work?
    thx.

    Great!

  8. JayArgonaut says:

Brilliant mod! I’m sending my SNES to you, very soon… :)

  9. consolepassion says:

If you hold the reset and change into the mode where region lockout is disabled it will let you play imports, so yes.

  10. snes101 says:

So would holding down the reset button with this switchless mod installed in my PAL SNES allow me to play games such as EarthBound?

  11. consolepassion says:

Yes, it plays Jap & US cartridges.

  12. Aibit654 says:

Cool… I wish every country would have the same plug, it would get alot easier. A couple days ago i ordered a Snes controller from you. Maybe i will buy another Snes console(modified) from you later on. Iam 100% sure the switchless modified Snes on this video can play NTSC ..but can this one and the other console with 50hz/60z switch that you have in stock play japanese cartridges?

  13. consolepassion says:

    Yes it will.

  14. Aibit654 says:

British SNES have a different AC adapter unlike here in Sweden. Will that modified Snes work with a Swedish AC adapter?

  15. consolepassion says:

    Cheers Rob!

  16. roberthazelby says:

Excellent video guys, and a fantastic mod!

  17. Konsolkongen says:

Hey, can i modify a Japanese Famicom (not the Jr one) with a 50/60Hz switch to boot PAL games like SM All Stars and run them in 60Hz?

    Thanks.

  18. consolepassion says:

No, you can still use the RF output, although a scart will give a much better picture.

  19. peckishere says:

hey, if I mod my SNES, would I need a SCART cable for it to display correctly?

  20. bx611 says:

how can I get the SNES link with the flat-panel monitor

  21. consolepassion says:

    OK, no worries then!

  22. trick6952 says:

thats nice and all but I have the american SNES so I honestly dont need any modding done except for the cart slot

  23. consolepassion says:

Some games containg the SA-1 or S-DD1 chips have additional protection which detects whether the CIC chip is still present and won’t work if it is disabled, so yes, it is neccessary to re-enable the lock for some games.

  24. Lachlant1984 says:

I may be missing something here, but why would you want to be able to switch the region lockout on and off? Why not modify the board so that the region lockout is permanantly off and can’t be switched back on again? How do you widen the game pak slot? Am I missing something obvious that’s staring me in the face?

  25. consolepassion says:

Yes, we always hold at least 10 of each console at any time, and always ensure we never run out of the very popular consoles (SNES, MD, MCD, SAT, DC & SMS)
